Unless you can defeat Macrovision, no. Macrovision is always updated. You would need a way to get the DVD player to stop transmitting macrovision to the VCR in order to record. But this is one reason why studios are still hesistant of releasing movies on DVD. Support DVD, don't pirate onto VHS.
