Howdy.
I had a removable hard drive bay in my previous system which was hot swoppable.
I could switch back up drives while the computer was on and go straight to files stored on the new hard drive.

I built a new computer and installed the same removable hard drive bay.
But when I swop drives the system slows right down and sometimes freezes completely. I have to re-start the system.

I have a 6.4GB Internal hard drive with my operating system on, and 4 removable hard drives with system.

The removable hard drive's are set to "removable" in the device manager.

Anybody have any ideas on why this might be happening.

Cheers & Beers

Could it be that the removable drive needs a software driver which was installed with the previous system but hasn't been loaded on your new set-up.

I didn't use any device drivers with the last set up for the removable drive.
All you normally do is go to device manager and select the hard drive.
Click properties and set the drive as removable.

This has not worked this time.
