I have been trying to backup my daughters Pop Star Maker for PSX. I have tried CDRWIN and CloneCD. I used Cloney XL and it didn't detect any protection, but it says there is only a 60Mb file + Audio files on the disk, this seems too small to me. Needless to say I tried burning at 2x and have ended up with coasters. Am I missing something here, has anybody come across this before?
is there a simple answer to this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you used any cracks/keygens on either CDRWIN or CloneCD? I know that if you get a 'bad' crack/keygen for CDRWIN, it will cause the program to malfunction, but it won't tell you, it just burns coasters pretty much like you've described. I've heard that Clone does the same thing, but I can't be 100% sure.

CDRWIN was offically purchased from Golden Hawk ( what a good boy I am) and CloneCD is the free 21 day trial version. I have successfully backed up most of my PSX games now including proteced games that required patching, but this one has me stumped at the moment.

Very strange, what happens when you try to use the backup?

When I use backup its the same, it says it has been successful but only a very small section of the CD seems to get written, approx 60Mb.
When I check the contents of the Cd, thats all that seems to be on it, most games seem to be a min 250Mb. Is there any sort of protection around that would stop the full contents of a CD being displayed or read properly?

Also once Cloney XL has scanned the disk it reports that there are two tracks ( 1 data, 1 Audio) 5 files a total of 57Mb and that the Data track is 3:28 mins long and the Audio track is 3:07 mins long ??

What kind of burner do you have? Did you upgrade to ME, or did it come with your PC?

The Burner is a LiteON LTR16101B and ME came with the machine.
I don't seem to have any problems with other CD's just this one

Well, that killed the line I was working on. I must admit, this has me stumped. I've never heard of a psx game being protected in such a way as to make Clone fail, it's usually just libcrypt or chip detection. Maybe somebody else will come along who can offer more assistance, sorry Draz.:(

Thanks for your time anyway m8,
I did hear that somebody had successfully backed it up with Easy CD Creator, I will just heve to keep trying.
