:alert: All XBOX and I guess GC emulators are fakes and may be viruses, while PS2 emulators are probably fakes and viruses although there's one currently under development :alert:
dcm386 May 18, 2002, 02:49 PM Um... I am pretty sure all emulaotrs for next-gen consoles are fake. Dreamcast came out over 2 years ago, and it is the least powerful specs-wise (although I still love my DC) and it still isn't emulated. Don't keep your fingers crossed for PS2, GC or XBox emu's (at least any time soon)
psibob84 May 18, 2002, 02:56 PM Xbox has the highest possibility since most if not all the hardware in it is PC based so no processor instruction translation would be needed (this is where emulators eat up the mhz)
yoshter1 May 18, 2002, 07:12 PM Yeah, but for an emu, don't you need at least 3 times the processing power of the system to be emulated?
Jaice May 19, 2002, 06:39 PM PS2 and Gamecube has cpu hardware also. They both have mobo's and processors. Only difference the X-box has is a Harddrive, which is avable for PS2 this month and at 40gigs.
dcm386 May 20, 2002, 12:49 AM Yeah, all systems have computer-like components to them. The problem is that an emulator uses much more CPU power than the system's CPU, becuase on an emulataor has to emulate not only the CPU, but also other hardware (ie graphics cards and sound processors).
psibob84 May 20, 2002, 05:14 AM Except in the case of the xbox where the processor is a mobile celeron 733

Yeah, and to have an emulator on your PC, your CPU, no matter what it is, would have to emulate the celeron 733. Just because it is a normal PC CPU, doesn't mean it doesn't need to be emulated. The XBox also uses a GeForce 3 so that will ahve to be emulated too.
geyser May 20, 2002, 03:31 PM hell there ain't even a fully functional n64 emulator yet...i think we can forget about emulating any of these next gen systems.
