A manufacturing company is looking into expanding their line of
karaoke music into the DVD format. Part of the problem is that DVDs
are much more expensive to manufacture, and as of yet they have not
seen that there is much of a demand for DVDs. Would you pls give me
any ideas that you could share?
Also I'd like to see if that would help them in deciding whether this is an area into which they might expand profitably?

If you are talking about Video CD Kareoke to DVD Video Kareoke I think that a pretty good idea.

1. More songs per disk
2. Higher quality video

My wife buys alot of VCD Kareoke CD's it would be nice to buy whole sets of music on DVD.

It doesn't have to have all those special menuing features of DVD just transfer it to DVD and add more music.

A Kareoke capable DVD player is really cheap now so I think the market should increase.

The problem would be if your VCD sales cannabalize your DVD sales because the VCD's are cheaper unless you package something special like "The Carpenters - Video Biography" which is a 2 disc set into a one DVD disk.

It would be best to try it that way first and see how it flies.

I think this is a very good idea as I enjoy a karaoke myself and so does many of my friends. Currently there is very limited in karaoke dvds - only the world series, which is just 6.

Also, there's hardly any dvd player that also has microphone inputs for karaoke in the UK market. But this can easily be upgraded by buying and seperate karaoke deck, which can link up to the amp. Karaoke lovers will happily pay for this if there were more karaoke dvds on the market.
