xxxicethixxx May 21, 2002, 01:19 AM i'm planning on buying neokey from www.kyamodchips.com, but it seems cheaper than all the other sites that sell the same chip. Why is this? Is the neokey from www.kyamodchips.com crappier than the other sites? Is the neokey the same as the USB Mod chip?
"USB Mod Chips (works fine in ps2 versions 1-4, but sometimes doesn't work 100% with maybe half of the version 5/6 consoles)"
so, does anyone with version 5/6 have trouble with usb mod chips?
Are there any other disadvantages for having a neokey besides not able to play DVDr's?
xxxicethixxx May 21, 2002, 01:39 AM please help me out guys. Im planning whether to buy it or not from www.kyamodchips.com for 5 of my other friends.
psx-tech May 21, 2002, 02:29 AM Kya is a good guy. a usb mod is a usb mod.. any where you buy it.. so....
but why a usb mod when you can get neo2.2 for less ??.. It does EA and DVD-Rs ..
xxxicethixxx May 21, 2002, 03:24 AM well, i just want a chip that's easy to solder, and the usb mod is way easier than the neo2.2. It says that it doesnt work with all version 5/6 ps2s. Does it mean that it doesnt boot 100% or not all the versions work with the chip?
boss1986 May 21, 2002, 03:30 AM as far as i no the neo-key works on all versions of ps2 (over hear in the uk)
but i could be wrong
cheerz
Backstar May 21, 2002, 04:23 AM Yeh I'll confirm that boss1986, they work on all pal versions so I don't see why the wouldn't work on all USA versions too. Sometimes on v5's you need to remove a component.
FlipShady31 May 21, 2002, 05:14 AM haven't bought from kya before, but i got a v5, connected the wire to the 2 points, and didn't remove the component and it works fine, also a reminder that you do need GS or AR to play your ps2 backups, i have AR2 and no problems, and for ps1 backups just have the switch on and play away.
psx-tech May 21, 2002, 06:40 AM v5 and v6 works find with usb mod.. still i just can't see why any one put a usb mod in there .. when you can get neo2.2 for $6 USD.. the 8 wires is not that hard to install.. .. oh well .. i guess if you dont' have any DVD-R to play and dont' mind patching EA games it is fine..
luv2trade24 May 21, 2002, 08:05 AM i have nothing but great things to say about kyamodchips,he has done numerous mod jobs for me and my friends and i have personally bought at least 30 or more of his neokeys for people,he is great and you won't find a better person to deal with
jaykull May 21, 2002, 09:58 AM i have a usb mod from kya. it works perfect. don't think because other sites sell it for more its better. its the same thing, but kya chips do not have a on/off switch(but you don't need it) .people say you have to patch ea games, but i have never had to.
King Pimp May 21, 2002, 10:26 AM their neokeys rock!
handyguy May 21, 2002, 10:54 AM If I remember,some neokeys dont have a switch or light on them ( I don't know if its theirs)
, but I can'd find them on that site. All I see on
that site is:
Prices
Bare Neo2.2s = $7
All Other Bare Chips $5
Wired Chips = Add 10 cents per wire
Neo2.2 = 9 wires
Multimode = 7 wires
PSONE = 6 wires
4-Wire = 4 wires
Anyway, if you want Refs, use the ref folder it seems to be going in that direction.
