I just want to know if there's a model that I should avoid or look forward to, see, I'm a Dreamcast player and the last Dreamcast models couldn't read backups.
Now that the PS2 is $199 I want to buy one, but I want to make sure I have the right model. Thank you.

They won't let you pick out which version you want. Buy by looking at the side of the box, it will tell you the version number.

Well, here's my question:
Which is the best version overall?
Also, I heard that some versions have the crappiest lasers on them. Is this true? And which versions are they?
Thanks...

just get the new ones in stores .. I am sure it is a v5 or v6 .. the same.. one of the "better" ps2 out there..
then wait for the NTSC messiah coming out.. should be here in 2 weeks.

You can't pick a version, you'll just get what they have at the store. Only way to know what version you have for sure is to open it up & compare to known versions, Id like to see you do that in the store :-)
