I have a AMD Athlon 1333mhz, 256ddram, 40gb and 16mb V3 3000 PCI. When I first got my comp from comp shop with like different parts. It wasnt a manufactured made PC so I couldn't get a boot disk. They put on Win2000Pro with NT but put all the stuff on the CD on my comp so when I installed XP I had all this other stuff. Now when I try to play some games it thinks I have Win NT.
Is their way to get rid of this or to create a boot disk. I tried doing complete Windows XP install but at the start of my comp it showed TWO operating systems.
So the main question is - How do I create a boot disk??
sorry if its to much.
Thanks - bye :)

Try the following:
boot to MS-DOS and type sys c: . This command replaces the Windows NT or Windows 2000 boot sector with the MS-DOS boot sector, and enables your computer to boot MS-DOS/ Win9x/Me/Xp. The following files are left in the root folder and should be deleted after you perform the sys c: operation:
Pagefile.sys
Boot.ini
Ntldr
Ntdetect.com
Ntbootdd.sys
After this boot from an XP boot disk - down load them from the following link:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q310994
Then after loggin on remove the following dir's:
Users
Winnt
you will find thes under the C: directoryu
Then this should be it.....................good luck

Eraser, I have just thought of a quicker and easier way:
Boot WinXP and use Control Panel / System / Advanced / Startup....
to set the default O/S to WinXP.
Open a Command/dos prompt and type:
attrib -r -s -h c:\boot.ini
Open c:\boot.ini in Notepad and remove the W2K line.
Delete the W2K folder (C:\Winnt).

MarcMail, the easiest way is to go to this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q197063
you cannot use a XP boot disk for Win2000 as they are extremly different OS's they have totally different file structures and naming standards and have no compatibility, follow the instructions from the MS Website and you can't go wrong
