I'm never going to stop gaming. The only way people should stop gaming is when it's not fun anymore. Why do you have to stop playing at a certain age? I dont think it matters

i dun think we'll be able to stop... cuz sooner or later, when virtual reality comes around... we'll be hooked to it for the rest of our lives!!

thanks guys, I'm trying to think if we have an addicition to playing videogames or not, and trying to assume age in the factor, its good to know there are people out their that still play videogames, yeah its hard to quit isn't when a console dies their is something new that attracts everyone again and then we get hooked, do you guys also think its addictive or no its just fun time, okay thanks for your replies and know its time to play the game.

you should stop playing games when you:

1) can no longer see the screen and have to ask your grandson/daughter which charecter you are.

2) The EMT is sitting on your chest and asks that you please lie still so that he can perform CPR to save your life(you can end MGS5 any time providing you live)

3) Princess Toadstool gets her own game.

4)your arthritis medication doesn't survive through the 10 hit string you used to be able to pull off in your favorite fighting game.

5)the consoles become soo expensive that only arcade owners have them and arcades are no longer stand up/sit down machines... there are sofas and lounge chairs and the arcade's now called a video cafe' with moca latte's

6) your grandson/daughter are graduating from college and you get an invitation to test the latest game for the new sega console that you thought you'd never see the day....Now you can die a happy man!

7)your obsession with games causes you to loose.....
a. your wife
b. your child while shopping
c. your job(there's always better opportunities abound)

8) when Bill Gates owns XboX, gamecube, and playstation companies:(

9) your wife is having an affair with some guy named Luigi who's and italian plummer from New York who just so happens to have a brother named Mario

10) you call your wife Chun-Li in the middle of one of your not so frequent personal sessions and instead of shruggin it off she performs her version of a super kick on you and finishes off with a 13 hit custom combo!

~TreFacTor~ age 30

3 yr old son's favorites: Floigan Brothers, Ready to Rumble,Virtual On Ontario Tangram, Mr. Driller, Super Mario,Hey you Pickachu and any racing game

First you play yourself, then you play with your kids, then you play with your kids kids, so you play for a very long time. When one has dementia, perhaps one shouldn't play then as they might not be able to remember how to play?

Don't think i'll ever stop to be honest. I see video games as pure escapism. I enjoy the fact that I can come home from work after having a crappy day and put GTA3 on and just blow the crap out of everything! just to relieve the stress!! :) I'm 27 by the way and no kids! life is good!! lol.. :D

i even play race games against my dad whenever i visit him-he owns a console. damn i beat him every time, but at least he likes the competition. I don't think one is ever too old. i hope i don't get artritis or whatevver that i cannot hold any longer a controller.
I still want to beat my kids whever i have any children, which will be hard because they're gonna learn it from a master

I reckon when the arthritis has kicked in so severly that it is painfull to hold the controller, then it is time to quit... But I could be wrong, maybe it is worth the pain??

I wouldn't know, I don't really play games.. My brother on the other hand can play for 36+ hours straight.

I have no intention of stopping gaming. Obviously one day I won't be able to play for one reason or another, but I won't be stopping voluntarily.

I've played for years. I'm 45. I even work part time in a console/PC games shop as I enjoy the community aspect and the money helps me upgrade my PC.

I play UT online (not that I'm any good...) and currently I'm on Project Gotham Racing and Oddworld on X-box.

Anyone who thinks I'm too old can have a smack from my walking frame

I'm 30 and still like to play with the psx - I'd probably play more, but just don't seem to have as much time for it anymore. I got an Intellivision when I was about 8, and have had game consoles ever since. I'm not ready to quit either - going to get a ps2 now that the prices have dropped!

I'm female, and was wondering how many other women out there are into video games? Perhaps khosw might want to use that for the topic of his next report?

I am 27 and I have been playing since the atari 2600. Now that I have 2 young children I play even more! My 5 year old come homes everyday after school and asks me to play video games with her. We play a lot of NFL Blitz and Tony Hawk. I will play forever. The only thing different now from college is time. When I have time and as long as the kids like it I will continue.

I'm 33 and have a 6 year old son. I have and Xbox and pretty much every decent game for my PC. My son enjoys watching me play aswell as playing himself. I will always be a gamer even after my son starts kicking my butt. My goal in life is to retire and buy the best gaming rig possible and then play till death takes me. Once your a gamer your a gamer for life.

well I am 26, soon to be 27, I am married and have a daughter and i play video games. In many ways its not just a hobby, its a way to relieve stress from a hard day at work or just deailing with the family. I mean how many other ways can you beat up some monster and call it your boss and feel better?? I will never stop playing video games and there should be no set age. Now the video game industry is aimming games towards the older game players EX: GTA3, so why should we stop doing something we enjoy?

OptimusPrime666
Jun 04, 2002, 07:45 PM
I'm 28, pushin' 29.

Bottom line. We'll stop when we're good n' ready.

The gaming companies know this. That's why long ago their target market became young adults rather then kids...We're the one's with all the $$$ to go out and buy a $50 game every month.

Thats where the problem started. People THINK that video games are for kids because that is to whom they were originally designed.

But not anymore as we all know. Fact is, the 'game' has existed for a long long time. They are just called video games now.

Remember board games? Chess, Checkers, card games etc. VIDEO games are just the next stage of the evolution of games in general.

The problem is public perception. No one expects you to stop playing chess or card games at a certain age do they? Why should they expect you to stop playing video games?

It's a right wing conspiracy I tell you.

48 male and gaming.

I love RPG but shoot em ups are brilliant for relieving stress. In the old days we could go out and beat the sh.. out of something. Now we use the gaming console/pc to do it.

No I wonder if someone has ever done a study on the violence we used to commit and the violence we now commit in the virtual world?

Thanks alot for the replies, I love videogames and will never quit, unless when all game consoles go online and you can play games by only going online. That would be awful, because of how expensice and time consumeing its going to be. Well I had a fun time reading all your replies and feel less comfortable knowing that i'm not the only gamer that is 25yrs or older that lover video games. I'm a 31 year old woman, and I say NEVER....STOP.....GAMING!!! I love it and will do it until I am too old to see, get Alzheimier's and don't know what I'm doing or it just isn't fun anymore (AKA the day I die!).

I just got back into consoles after a 7 year rest and I'm loving every second of it. I had to find a guy that loved gaming as much as me, so good thing my boyfriend is as much of an addict as me ;)

As far as stopping when I have kids, I wouldn't stop but would rather they grew up with gaming as part of their lives (if they chose to, but what kid doesn't like games?)

I know your paper was due a couple weeks ago, but I had to add my 2 cents (just like a woman)

I dont think anyone should stop playing games.

Back in 1986 I introduced my mother to video games by giving her a 8 bit nes. She is 50 yrs old now and owns a nes, snes, genesis, N64,playstation, saturn and is about to buy a ps2.

She has a game tv setup in the living room just for her to play games while my father watches tv on the regular tv. Guess she might be the ulitimate junkie ...

Had a break while I was playing with motorbikes and women, but I had no luck with either. I crashed my motorbike, and did not get myself a girlfriend, so now I am only playing games. :D
Really, I think people play games as long as they find it amusing. When they don`t, they quit.

I hope i`ll never be so adult that i forget to be a child.
I`m 22, almost 23, and i donīt wanna quit playing video games, however, get good games is really hard, the FF series ( V, VI, VII and VIII ) lunar silver star story, Diablo 1 and 2 LOD are the ones that catch me.
I`ll quit playing the day i find them boring or i can`t find a game at least as pretty as they seem to me.
By the way, can you recommend some good RPG for PSX or PC ?
