I want to get a faster processor and more ram.
I have a 400 mhz with alot of add ons like

40 gig drive
dvd rom drive
16x10x40x burner
4x4x30 burner

64 meg ram

Do I need to just buy another motherboard so i can get 900mgh and at least 250 ram?

where could I pick one up?

check out your motherboard manual for upgrade options, that will tell you the max CPU u can have aswell as the max ram

M_rsa is correct, but you can tell yourself how much ram the machine will take. If all else fails there a good place called tigerdirect that has good prices on motherboards.

Which processor do you now have? Pentium II? Duron?

What model motherboard do you have now?

What is the current FSB? Faster RAM as well as more RAM may just be the cheapest alternative for you.

Curious people want to know more...

My processor is a celeron. And the motherboard Is a generic.
Thats why I was thinking to get a new board with a pentium III and plenty of ram.
I'm just wondering If by doing so I'll be able to use the stuff I got now like the two burners and the dvd rom. I also want to get capture card and a dvd writer.

Is it as easy as getting another board and putting everything on it. Like NIC cards ect , ??

All your hardware should work just fine if you pop it into a new motherboard, and yes it is just a case of unplugging your ide cables from one and plugging them into the other. Your old system isn't desperately old so i guess the cards you are using are gonna be PCI's and AGP which wont cause a problem, if you have any ISA's you'll just have to get a mobo with an ISA slot, they still exist!

You shouldn't have any trouble at all.
