Ive got two PC's

PC #1 has windows XP Home Edition - Also has Internet Connection - Cable Modem

PC #2 has windows XP Professional

both of them have got NIC cards (ethernet 10/100MB), and I want to network them both, so I bought the cabling to connect both PC's together.

The cable was CAT 5 cable, i think RJ45 connector crossover cable.

Anyway, basically I do not have a clue on how to get them both networked so that they can share programs and stuff (e.g. Hard drive space, etc).

And also how can I get it so that both computers share the cable modem internet connection?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Triad. Its easy in XP.

Goto 'My Computer' and then to 'My Network Places'

There is an option in the menu on the left to 'Setup a home or small office network'

Run it on the PC with the internet connection first.

Then run it on the other pc.

that should be it for getting them networked.

In terms of sharing hard drive space just right click on the drive/folder you want to share and then select 'sharing & security'

That should do it.

Get that setup and then come back with any other issues.

Regards

D.
