Hi All can anybody explain why this is happening whenever i run disk defragmenter it gets so far through doing it and then restarts because it says disk contents has changed restarting defragmentation,and restarts the whole process and gets a bit further along and then does the same over and over again left it running for about 4 hours last time i tried to defrag and it got to about 35% and just kept restarting again.Also have tried wipe info on norton system works 2002 just to clean up free hard drive space and that gets so far and keeps restarting never finishing the task,it will get so far and then say restarting due to disk write any ideas anyone.Thanks in Advance to anyone who can solve this problem:tup:

Try closing ALL open programs, from taskbar (by the clock) and by going CTRL-ALT-DEL and closing the progs from there. and also virus check make sure you got no viruses acessing yer drive.

Tried all the above nothing different used 3 different anti virus programs no viruses found,i am baffled anybody???

try running disk defragmenter in safe mode m8 it may help Doggy
