I replaced my motherboard with a Tyan s1854 400 and a P3 1Ghz due to my old mb giving up. Under boot up i got the blue screen asking me to remove the new hardware, the recovery mode would not recognize my admin password so i re-installed xp and now i have a file which is under c:\douments and settings from the erlier instillation which i would like to get access to but just comes up with access denied, any idias on how to gain access to this file would appreciated???

Make sure you logged in as an Admin
ANd check to make usre all files pertaining to that one are stilll installed

I managed to get the file back by doing the following;

Look up the topic "ownership" in Windows Help and Support. You
need to log on with an account in the administrators group. Access the
permissions for those files and reassign them to your current account. If
you have XP Home, you may need to boot to Safe Mode to accomplish this
