Papeseh May 27, 2002, 06:50 AM Im having yet another problem with my ps2!
This time is a memory card issue, which really surprised me cos I thought these things were fail proof- obviously not.
My Problem: When I try to load Tekken 4 (Jap) it comes up with the please insert memory card sign, despite the fact the card being in slot 1. Ive tried booting, reseting but none of it works.
In the browser the Tekken 4 save is there with all my other saves, but it wont load up. In game, after I skipped pass the initial memcard wrning, I tried saving to my memcard, but it just doesnt detect it.
Finally I tried my memcard with a different game (Virtua Fighter 4), with my memcard which loads up as it should.
This has got me pulling my hair out, cos ive never heard of such a problem before, and tekken is my fav game of the moment
Help if you can
booboy2 May 27, 2002, 07:13 AM Which release of tekken 4 do you have :
The one which loads up directly to the game
or
The one by Kalisto with the trainers on it that you can select various items before you reach the game
I have the first and have had no problems. Make sure you have activated the save feature in the game because it may just have saved the game settings, like sound, control, screen options and not the games progress data.
Also just for the hell of it make sure the date and time are set in the ps2 browser options.
LMK how it goes.
Papeseh May 27, 2002, 11:36 AM Thanks for the feedback,
I know its saved the game progress data before, cos it USED to work, cos i had all the characters, all the movies, all the stages.... And it loaded up everytime, just for some reason it aint workin now. And it doesnt even detect the memory card whereas other games do
Really is bothering me :(
Ill try the date and time thing now..
Papeseh May 27, 2002, 11:45 AM Nope, didnt work :(
I would try formatting the memory card, but the fact that it works on other games, and it shows everything on the browser works tells me this wont help..
The game doesnt even detect a mem card in the slot is what peeves me of..
Do you think a new copy of Tekken 4 dVDr would help?
booboy2 May 27, 2002, 12:06 PM Do you think a new copy of Tekken 4 dVDr would help?
a:Probably not m8, its sounds like the mem card, not the game.
Tell me, is the memory card an official 8mb sony one?
Papeseh May 27, 2002, 01:15 PM Tell me, is the memory card an official 8mb sony one?
yeah it is..
I thought it could be the memcard too, but the fact that it works with other games, and loads up the browser lead me to believe that the prob was softwre based...
Somehow its gone buggery tho, I used to keep my memcard in the slot 1 all the time tho, and the other day I took it out for some reason.. and when i put it back in it didnt work. But other games do! arghhhh
I think this problem is unique to me really, just my sodding luck :(
booboy2 May 28, 2002, 03:43 AM Yes m8, it certainly looks like a corrupt save file.
I would bite the bullet and delete your Tekken 4 save, and load the game up and see if it then sees the card, and start the game again.
Then if it works you would know it was just one corrupt save point.
Papeseh May 28, 2002, 08:46 AM Hey boo it worked!!
Thank god :D I dont mind playin too get all the characters again :)
Thanks so much for helpin me in this jam
booboy2 May 28, 2002, 08:54 AM Np problem at all, I'm just sorry I could not post late on yesterday to help you sort it as soon as poss.
Anyhow, alls well that ends well.
Hope you have better luck in future months with your ps2.
By the way a tip to unlock all the characters quickly is to set the rounds to "one", then you only have to beat each character once to unlock your characters instead of best of three.
