Hi all, I'd like to see what you all think of my hardware setup

I have a quantum fireball P LM30 as Primary master

I have a plextor 401240a as secondary master
and a liteon LTD163 DVD-ROM as secondary slave

Is this the best configaration, if not can you please tell what is.

I've been told to put the liteon onto the primary as a slave and leave the plextor as secondary master.

But I was led to believe that having a cd/dvd_rom on your primary effectively slows the hard drive down!!!

I would leave it as is - certainly older cdroms used to slow down your hard drive if on the same channel not sure if this still applies to current models though.

That's good if you don't want to burn cd to cd!!! I would say if you want to burn direct I would put the cd-rom and cdr on different channels. If your worried about speed put your hard drive on a raid card, other than that before I had raid I always had my CD-rom and hard drive on the primary. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the input. might just change it round to see if I get any improvement, not that i need to, it's plenty fast as it is, but speed is everything and milliseconds count nowadays.

if any serious improvement is gained will post it on cdrom guide forum
