I was talking to one of my friends about the blanks that I bought for $2 each and I told him that hey worked fine on my standalone. He told me that the quality of the picture and sound would be alot better if I got better blanks. Is this true, and if so does anyone know the best blank for sound and picture quality? I already have a few apples.

the sound and video will be the same on all dvdrs - only thing that will change is the playback of the dvdrs as different players like different types of media. what works for you might not work for me and vice versa - just try a few different types and stick to the one that plays perfect.

agreed. your friend is talking out of his ***. Bits are bits are bits. As long as the player can read them properly (not stuttering or anything) then thats all that matters

quality of blanks doesnt matter as long as your player reads them.

i have been using bulkpaq
i had no problems with these for a while but started getting a few returns.
they do not play in PS2 for insatnce.

svp are selling 3rd generation dvds for £1.79
i have heard good reports about them although i havent tried them myself yet.

Thanks, I thought as much but some people never want to listen to reason. With brand name DVD-Rs being so expensive, I've been using bulkpaks and my friend watches these movies and says that if I would have used a better blank the quality would be better.

It's only a factor, if say you are "backing up" your PS2 games. PS2 has very picky laser and will not read some cheap DVD-Rs.

However, I use cheap DVD-Rs for movies and it plays fine on computer/Xbox/standalone DVD players.

For PS2 games, I recommend Apple/Verbatum. That's what everyone elses says on the PS2 backup forum
