I`ve downloaded the file lord of the rings movie , the file`s name is lotr.vcd , however I would like to watch this movie on my dvd player , in the TV , my dvd player accepts vcd , If I record the file lotr.vcd on a cd-r , will I be able to watch the movie on my dvd player ?

No. The movie must be burned with a vcd filesystem, also you must make sure that the vcd is a complient mpeg (not divX etc.) Take a look at www.vcdhelp.com
