I just bought a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical. So far, I like it. However, what I find annoying is that the light at the back of the mouse ( supposedly the mouse's tail) keeps on lit; even if after I turn off my computer.
Anybuddy knows why should it stay lit like that? It only goes off if I unplug power cord to the system.
Thankx guys:furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:

I do, I do ! Don't even try to fix it because you won't. I had the same problem; the red light wouldn't turn off when the computer was off. I posted on forums & people gave suggestions to go into bios & mess with IRQs, & other stuff etc. I finally called the motherboard manufacturer. Believe it or not, most MB manufacturers send a faint power signal to that port (and they always have according to Epox) & the reason we never noticed it was because our mice never came w/ a light before. The ONLY solution is to use the USB adapter that came with the mouse instead of plugging it into the ps/2 port. Good luck.

p.s/ I believe this only happens with Microsoft optical mouses only

Hahahaha, this is funny
I used PS/2 and USB, both never had the light
It's only because I'm using Logitech, but hope ya get the light problem fixed, my mobo glows at night
There's a green led light inside that creeps me out sometimes

Man......I bought that mouse on the May 28th.....and now..its...June 4th....and guess what.....the light has gone out.......I mean........DEAD.
I was using it just now....and then...I poped a data CD in my cd drive ( which I have compiled and used for months with no problems at all), but today.......when the cd drive just closed......I noticed my cursor speed suddendly slowed down.........I moved it around for a while.......but it didn't seem to improve abit.......so I turn off the system......left it for a minute then turn back on............at first.........the mouse was seem to be back to normal......but just after a few clicks or so...........it then started again.....then....the cursor sometimes freezed for a while....then I notice that the light ( under the mouse next to the reader ) flashing....on and off..........and after a while....it all gone......and will not light back on again.

uhm its a $9.99 brand new Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical...... anyone ever had the same problem?

Nope, my wheel mouse optical has never had the light stay on after ive turned the computer off. However, using the USB socket is preferable to using the ps/2 in my opinion

Another thing, whether the light comes on or not can depend on the surface that you're using
