"XBox DiVX player
NOTE: The following news is unverified due to lack of a mod-chip on my part, but files have been relased so you can test for yourself... the Win32 port is tested, however :)
Here is what the coder, d7o3g4q, said about it
I've got some finishing up of the DirectX rendering to do. Minor things. Mostly error handling and cleaning up the code.
Here's what it does/doesn't do:
It will play a media file called thematrx.avi bundled in the ISO. It is the original Matrix trailer.
It has no sound support. Sound is coming. This release is just to test the DirectX rendering code.
The frame rate is at maximum. This means that it should play too fast. Fixing this will happen when I put in the code to sync audio/video.
The code only plays Divx ;=) 3.11 video. This will change in the future.
It won't display any error messages. If an error occurs, we won't be seeing any video. (Hopefully this won't happen!
It doesn't use the new overlay rendering in the xbox sdk. I'm anxious to try this and see if the rendering is any faster.
The XBOX SDK's DirectX 8.1 API is very close but not exactly the same as the Win32 DirectX 8.1 API. I'm only using API's right now that exists in both. I'll have a win32 app and the avi file for download as well for comparison. Because of the close similarity between the api's, and since I've tested it alot on win32, I feel fairly confident it'll work.
There are Win32 binaries and an XBox ISO so you can check it out here Could be the 1st of many homebrew XBox projects :)"
