dgr May 31, 2002, 11:57 AM you need sdram pc100, though get sdram pc133 for upgradablity.
Immatoity May 31, 2002, 12:26 PM errrmmm -is pc133 compatible with my system?
Stevie boy May 31, 2002, 01:41 PM I think pc133 is compatible but, it will only run the same as pc100 in your system. That's it in a nutshell I think.
Steeve.
Lazza May 31, 2002, 01:42 PM And if it's cheap PC100 memory you are after try here:- http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd3N1YmNhdGVnb3J5X3NlYXJjaA==&cat_uid=3
I don't think you will find any cheaper in the UK right now.
Immatoity Jun 08, 2002, 09:52 AM i have 64mb already -does thais mean the max I can have in this pc is 128mb?
The Magpies Jun 08, 2002, 09:56 AM depends the capability of your motherboard, it should take at least 512Mb, but you need to refer to the manual for more info.
Regards
Immatoity Jun 29, 2002, 06:40 AM just to clarify -I have two DIMM slots -one already has 64mb on it
could i theoretically put 2 x 128mb in or can I only add another 64mb?
will this extra memory speed things upa s at the moment pc is slow(especially when downloading movies off kazaa)
Immatoity Nov 28, 2002, 12:05 PM any thoughts lads as wanna buy some asap
Van Nugent Nov 28, 2002, 12:34 PM As you're running Sandra on the system, look at the System & Motherboard modules to see what it says about the mobo. You'll need to know the make/model of the mobo to determine the max memory size it can take and possibly to find a BIOS update.
sickmanofasia Nov 28, 2002, 12:41 PM well as The Magpies as stated you need to look at your motherboard manual to find out the capabilities of ram upgrade.if it can go to 512 then
you can put any 2 combinations in you want up to 2x256 modules

Dwhitt Nov 28, 2002, 02:46 PM Try http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listmfgr.asp?cat=RAM there is a list of mobo manufacturers so you should be able to sort compatability. You will also get a lifetime guarantee with any memory you buy. I had my last upgrade replaced without any hassle after 18months when it developed a fault.
Immatoity Nov 29, 2002, 10:17 AM got manual -extract here
System memory
· Two 168 pin DIMM sockets
· Supports up to 256MB SDRAM memory or up to 512MB EDO 3.3V unbuffered DIMM memory
BIOS
· Licensed advanced AWARD BIOS, Supports Flash ROM BIOS, Plug and play ready. Built-in NCRâ53C810 BIOS
· Supports IDE CD-ROM or SCSI boot up
so I think I go for 2 x 128mb SDRAM (168pin??) and how do I flash bios?
sickmanofasia Nov 29, 2002, 03:01 PM yes go for the 2x128 rams, as for the bios ,do you need to update it .
flashing the bios wrong could render your motherboard useless.
I personally would only recommend doing it if it is vital.
Why do want to update bios ??

Immatoity Dec 01, 2002, 06:14 AM bought some yesterday - 2 x 128mb and it f**ked my pc!!
registry errors, fatal exceptions, u name it lol!!!
bloke said I could take it back,so no worries on that score
-just wondered why this could be?
sickmanofasia Dec 01, 2002, 06:30 AM try just adding one at a time and make sure it is inserted properly.
