I am wanting to upgrade my old Celeron 500 for my cousin and I recently foound out it did not have a AGP slot.
I wanted to buy a Geforce 2 MX card but I'm not sure if there are any good cards that are cheap and use PCI slots
I have heard people say that AGP is tons faster than PCI but I don't really have a choice.
Is there something that can add an AGP slot to our motherboard?
Can you gimme some prices and brands of PCI cards that are good? (I live in Australia)
Will a Geforce 2 MX PCI be much slower than an AGP Geforce 2 MX?

Thanks.

Your best bet is to try and get a PCI card from an auction site.

Thats true.... and secondly you can not 'add' AGP to your mainboard.

agp is not "tonnes faster." it gives the CAPABILITY to be tonnes faster

The card itself isn't any slower. It's just that the AGP slot has a faster bus than PCI. So it can transfer data to the processor & ram at a faster rate.

The main thing is than most companies don't make pci graphics cards any longer.

Are there any places that I can find a PCI Geforce 2 MX VGA card?

Try a search

Or have a look in a local pc shop.
