View Full Version : my pc crashes after about 10 mins [me; amd 1700xp; winXP]

it keeps crashing, restarting but when it does it doesnt give a signal to the monitor? until i turn it off at the mains and restart it?

its a self built, xp 1700+ with the same setup i use for all the pcs i build!!!

any ideas or help is very much appreciated

Sounds to that its getting to hot inside

Get some more fans inside and check the one on the CPU

Yeah sounds like it is getting too Hot inside ,maybe try get this programme called sandra , it can tell you the temp of you CPU you can get a free version here

got a prog to check tempurature of cpu and its within its limits?? ie under 55 degrees

could the geforce graphics card be getting too hot?

I'm gonna agree with everybody else here...

It's too hot. You can check the temp in the BIOS or with a program. I personally use MB Probe.

As it's self buit, check that the fan you used is

a.) Correctly fitted.
b.) Is the right fan for the CPU.

I have a 1600XP and it runs fine @ between 58-63C.
