Is there anybody who can tell me how to extract individual songs from a karaoke VCD to make a compilation with other VCD tracks:cool:

I've been quite frustrated trying to figure out how to extract music from vcd karaoke as well. I've used a sample copy of the shareware called "vcdcutter" which does extract and convert the music to mp3 for you. That's as far as I got.

Hope someone else out there has some other ideas. :hdspin:

there are different type of karaoke vdo. some have track by track some just have one big file (tracks are with that file).

go to MPEGAV folder and there are the vdo. use TMPGEnc to chop them out track by track from the big file...

Hi Konni3x,

When I'm in the MPEGAV folder, I do see what I believe are individual files for each track on the vcd. Each has the .dat extension. Does this mean it's already chopped up? If so, how do I proceed to extract the music? Do I still use TMPGEnc? Sorry, I'm a newbie so please explain a bit about TMPGEnc you've described and where can I find it. Thanks!:hdspin:

if u hav many dat files, u won't need TMPGEnc. TMPGEnc only chop/cut or join tracks. to copy ito to your computer, just do drag drop, then rename the 'dat' extention to 'mpg'

then burn it

well, let me correct this. TMPGEnc does many things, encoding vdo files and more. but in your case, i mention to joint or chop

for more info go to vcdhelp.com

Hi,

I followed these steps and I was able to convert the vcd karaoke (.dat files) to mp3's:

Step 1: http://www.vcdhelp.com/convertdat.htm

Step 2: http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm

Step 3: I downloaded TMPGEnc and encode the .wav file to mp3

Thanks to all those who had helped. Much appreciated! :)
