Sunday morning I opended my comp and a Norton Antivirus icon appreaded saying that it wasn`t working correctly. Afterwards, it`s went into safe mode. I made a virus scan and a scandisk, but every thing was allright. So I restarted the comp and it came back into safemode. I restarted again will holding Ctlr (or f8) and pressed 1 for normal and still went to safe mode.

The night before I`ve installed gta3, and it worked.....a bit slow but it worked. So I thought that my videocard was not strong enough and it did something to my comp, `cause I remember it "Optimised" my card for the game. Btw, my card is a Xpert2000. So I lower the "harware acceleration" and the "3d acceleration" and restarted, but noting. I`ve tried to installed the latest drivers for the card, by nothing.

So I`ve tried to unistall the game, but it wouldn`t not. It gave me this error: " System File Warning
The following system fiels have been replaced with older versions by a program you recently ran. Some Windows functionality may not run correctly wiht these files installed.
Please restore these files by running Windows Setup located on your original Windows disks to verify your current installation.
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WINASPI.DLL" This warning reapeared when I resarted the comp again.

So that`s it, I don`t know what to do? I really need your help. I don`t want to format the disk!

Btw, I got a ibm comp, with 500mhz, 96mb ram, with win98 SE that is included in the comp (so I don`t have it on a disk) and a Magnum/Xpert128/X99/Xpert 2000 card.

Thanks.

Run SFC from startmenu -> Run box. Let it detect the corrupt files and replace them using the copy of Win98 SE you have on your disk.

Ok, first I did a start up disk my going in control panel/add and remove/advance and I clicked on create disk. Now I started sfc, it detected some corrupt files, but it didn`t detect my disk. Instead, it put a link, C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CABS, then it replaced the file. But my comp still starts in safe mode! Any ideas? Thanks.

Try exploring your way to c>windows>options>cabs
Many preinstalls hide your win98 cab files here.
Just double click on the setup.exe file and windows will reinstall without loosing any of your files.

Ok M8 put you'r Windows Start Up disk in the floppy drive and reboot the computer select start without cd rom support when you get the A prompt type in a C prompt just coppy the A:/> but with a C then type regrestore after the C prompt and hit enter It should give you 4 or 5 previous registry settings for the last few days select yesterdays then reboot system with the start up disk removed if no joy try the next one back untill you get one before the game install and hopefully you sould be OK Doggy   :D
