Im sorry (and pi**ed off) to announce the death of my 1Ghz Advent Laptop as of 12:47PM yesterday.

Primary cause of death is still unknown, some blame mechanical failure however, specalists say that the hard drive was beyond repair, there was nothing they could do.

There is a moral to this story:

NEVER BUY PC WORLD'S OWN BRAND!!!

Anyone know a good make of laptop?!

My deapest sympathies on your loss.

I take it you never did an ortopsy yourself?

Another lesson ive learnt from this tragic experience is to back up your information.

Do you think it is worth buying another laptop for a cheaper price plus and external usb/firewire cd-writer or going a bit further and buying an laptop with integrated cd-writer????

USb cd-writers dont write very fast, do they??

no you probally want to go with integrated cd-writer but it is going to cost you allot more. i myself do not like usb wires.

I'll buy that laptop if you only have to replace the HDD

PC world are coming to pick the laptop up tomorrow to replace the HDD but if you have a price in mind let me know.
