To achieve decent quality pictures 2.1 Megapixel should be the minimum you should consider. Also buy a quality brand such as Nikon or Fuji and you won't go far wrong.

I've had my Nikon Coolpix 775 for a while now and more than happy!

I know canon is really reliable... I'm trying to decide on which one to buy ..cause they have them on sale here...i like the kodak cause the DC290 brings a new in-camera interpolation "ultra" mode which produces a higher resolution image by stretching the original 2.1 megapixel image to 3.3 megapixels. The Canon A50 digital features only a 1.3 megapixel, but small to fit in your pocket hmmm
But they both excellent cameras

Go for the small, stylish Fuji Finepix 2600 zoom from www.fotosense.co.uk

Sony mavica 300. It has rw cd. Unlimited storage and you can load it on any computer with a cd drive/laptop. Sharp mega pixal image and great lens. For the traveller the mavicas are the best. You can reload with a floppy or cd. The 95 and 97 are on clearance/do a pricegrabber search and yahoo search. They have a professional camera lens and are a little heavy/floppy only(bargain at $399-$429).
The other choices mentioned are fine. It's just how big is your wallet.:)

I'm with Ru$$rip on this one. The Fuji will also double as a webcam & record video.

Dont forget to get one that uses standard batteries (aa aaa etc) cos if u use a rechargable power pack and it goes flat u r stuffed.

Look aroudn for the Canon A20 or any other Canon with 2.1 Megapixels. I have been using a Canon Digital for almost 2 years now and I LOVE it. I have well over 1000 pictures saved all very high quality, extremely clear. Canons cameras are small, light weight, and the lens retracts when the camera is off so you don't have to worry about scratching it when you throw it in a bag or something. They are also encased in a metal body so very durable. I take my Canon digital everywhere. I have the S10 which is an older model. It was there first 2.1 megapixel along with the elf. The newer ones are the same but use normal batteries instead of the special camera batteries. You can't go wrong with a canon though. Great cameras.

I've had a Fuji 2700 for 3 years or more now. 2.3 mp and light as a butterfly. I have 3 CD's full of shots taken with it (about 2,500 pics) it has never let me down. The NP80 battery in it lasts an absolute age between charges and the pic quality is great. However like a greedy boy I'm now looking to upgrade. As the Fuji has been so good I'm looking for another. I think maybe the 4800 Zoom or the 601. Cant decide.

What can I say, Fuji all the way. Streets ahead in style and price. Most importantly they take great pictures too. I usually print out mine on A4 and the quality is still very nice.

I GUESS MY MOST IMPORTANT DECISION in buying a digital camera involves the trade off between price and pixels . I really have to figure in how much you want to spend because more dollars buys more pixels.hmmm i was checking out this Kodak DX3900 4megapixels for $279.00 not bad....thanx guys for all the help i'm getting i'm checking out each one of your picks..like fuji and canon
