i for the first time left my computer in stand by mode overnight.i used it this morning thought everything was fine but when i went to shutdown it keeps restarting....any suggestions??

after snooping around i right clicked on my computer went to properties then the advanced tab,down to startup and recovery settings and under system failure i unchecked automaticlly restart.....now when i try to shutdown the blue crash screen comes on and i get this error message irql_not_less_or_equal....any help would be appreciated!!!also now i noticed that there is a about a 1 min delay before i can do anything on my computer...(ie)after getting it to restart manually it seems to be booted up and ready to go...but thats not the caseit then takes an extra min or so to be fully functional....this is all happening at once, when it rains it pours!!!!

try disabling standby and shut your computer down. Also, see if when you go to shut down it actually shuts down and doesnt go into standby or hibernation.

Just a thought.

after playing around a bit i found it to be roxio ez cd creator software.i dont use this much but i do use the direct cd feature, anyway searching around a bit i found a file which makes the nessecary changes to the registry....anyway thx to all who tried to help!! if anyone runs into the same problem i'll be happy to send the file.

I had this same problem after installing 'touch screen' software.
I was busy at University at the time, so I just held my finger pressing the power button so it closed down fully. Installing more software (for something else) seemed to cure it, and the problem has not reoccurred.
