Hey there everyone. I need some serious help. I went to turn on my computer yesterday and a black screen came up that said invalid disk, please enter disk and press any key. Problem is there is no disk in there. Is my hard drive dead? It was fine the day before. I got to a c prompt and looked for the windows directory but it wasn't in there. Is there any way that when I was transferring a bunch of my files to my slave drive that I may have transferred my windows directory? Is there any way I can fix this problem because it won't let me do anything. Thanks for your help!

Boot up the system with a bootdisk. If you don't have one, get it here (www.bootdisk.com). Then try to change to C: drive to see if you can. If you can change to C: then it means the HD is OK. Change back to A: where the bootdisk is, type sys c: then <Enter> to transfer the system files to C: then remove the bootdisk and reboot to see if Windows can load. If not, please post back.

Thanks for your help. I tired that and the C: DOES come up but when I type sys or dir it says "Invalid media type reading drive c."
I don't know how in the world to fix this problem. Even if I have to lose all of my hard drive files I will I guess just so I can get the computer working again. And now if I load it without any disk it just goes to a black screen and I see some symbols. A smiley face, heart, music note, etc....\
Any other help you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Try reformatting C:.
Again, boot up with a bootdisk then type format c: . You'll lose all data in C:. The next thing is to reinstall Windows from your Windows CD.
