I just installed my first chip but have got a problem. when I turn on the ps the screen flickers right through boot up, but the games play fine. I also found that some games that play on the early version ps1 dont play on this machine. but if i back them up on a verbatim disc they seem ok. is this normal. The chip in question is an 8 wire stealth chip, its wired in stealth mode.
if you have any ideas i would be gratefull.

Thanks in advance.

I guess that the VGB forum is more suitable for this question. Moving it there for you ...

I have never seen an 8 wire chip for the PSone (101 -102). All the stealth chips I have seen for this model are 6 wire. Are you sure you got the right chip? Let me know where you got the chip.

the flickering on the boot screen after putting an 8 wire "one chip" mod in a ps-one is quite normal but it won't occur on all televisions, only some. i learn't this after i put a mod in my brother's ps-one and when i tried it, it flickered. so i turned it off quickly, uninstalled the chip and checked the machine which was ok. so i put the chip back in and it did the same thing again. i gave the ps-one back to him and told him it flickered on the boot screen but when he tried it on his tv it didn't do it. i have since bought a new tv and it doesn't do it on that one either!
