i have a sony cd burner crx145e and when i try to use sony cd extreme or any other burning program other then nero it says that no recorder device is found on this somputer but it works fine with nero. i was woundering if anyone had a driver that would fix that problem and i cant get roxio to work it says taht there is a problem using direct cd copyer and the driver is corrupt so if anyone knows how to help me could you please mail me.

You do not need drivers for the burner. XP will use the generic driver for it. Check the maker's website to see if there are new firmware that may help. I also have a burner that works well with every piece of burnware but HotBurn. I can't make HotBurn recognize it and the only thing I could do was to send Iomega my burner's parameters in hope that the next HotBurn version would support my burner. In the mean time, I just use other burnware that support the burner.
On the other hand, try updating ASPI layer. A screwed up layer will make your burner behalve oddly on some software. Download ASPI v.4.70 here (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/drivers_by_product.html?cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70).
