DRAMO4298 Jun 09, 2002, 12:44 PM Hello:
Is there anyway to format and reuse the AOL, MSN, etc. CDs that come to me in the mail?
It seems they are "write-protected" ( or something) and when I try to FORMAT them using "INCD / AHEAD NERO" software . . . the CD is not even recognized as being in the drive.
I can READ the CD in Windows Explorer - but cannot change any File ATTRIBUTES.
Do I just throw out these CDs or is there a way to reformat them?
Thank you.
GiGaDaNcE_2 Jun 09, 2002, 01:11 PM they are not Re-Writables m8 so you wont be able to write to them,
Also i think they use a special CD Writer to write it with although i am not completed sure.
Badidoh Jun 09, 2002, 01:33 PM You're Funny :D
GiGaDaNcE_2 Jun 09, 2002, 01:46 PM Who!
:furious:
celtic_druid Jun 09, 2002, 01:50 PM They are pressed.
Lazza Jun 09, 2002, 02:31 PM A lot of people round my way use them to scare the birds off of their veg plots, I use them for coasters in my office.
DMC Jun 09, 2002, 02:33 PM They're Read-Only so you can't do anything to them. Just throw them out or .......ummm....use them for decoration by sticking them up on the wall or something. :)
edit: Yeah...that's a good idea :)
8210 Jun 09, 2002, 03:39 PM as lazza says use them as coasters, thats what i do :D
Badidoh Jun 09, 2002, 04:14 PM See, It's Funny :D
You can't do nothing to them, they're scrap, you can use them to scrape off bird doo-doo or throw them to hit your neighbor, or even microwave them for 3 seconds and watch them fry.
But that's about it. :D
chimpuk Jun 09, 2002, 04:25 PM basically, DRAMO4298, think about it, can u normally rewrite a PRESSED cd? So why would these be any different?
Anyway if u wanna do something with them theres a big discussion in open to all about what to with them
deerballs Jun 11, 2002, 03:41 AM that some funny $H1T, You must really be pressed for money. and If i ever purchase a backup on this forum and its on a aol disk I'll know you figured it out......lol.....lol....lol
ElaineM Jun 11, 2002, 03:50 AM No, there isn't a way to rewrite them obviously. You can use them for coasters, make moblies out of them, and even use them to decorate. However that is about all that they are good for.
Trondos Jun 11, 2002, 11:58 AM You could always make this, m8!

Lazza Jun 11, 2002, 04:19 PM OK, I think we have more than answered the original question here.
I'm closing this now. :)
