hi LiNkZ,
imho, you have a few choices:-
1---split the good part of the file from the bad and try and re-sync. the bad part, but this may not work if the fault is progressive.
2---play .vob files with power dvd etc. to ensure they are all ok,
if they are ok then just re-encode the .vobs that contain the bad section of video then cut/join .mpg files. if not ok then re-rip bad .vobs and encode and join etc.
3---do a full re-ripping job (not forgetting to check .vob files with player after ripping), then a full encoding.
hth

i reripped and i played the DVD b4hand to make sure it was ok it was but its too progressive to keep seperating and syncing that would take ages, any other ideas? is there some different way of ripping that would fix this? thanks

hi LiNkZ,
to clarify,
when you rip a dvd with say smart ripper you get a number of .vob files, have you tried playing these .vobs individually with a player like power dvd ? are they all ok?
.vob files can be encoded individually with dvd2avi--->tmpgen.
so cut and save the good 58 min. of your file and then just encode the .vobs(if they are ok) which make up the bad part of your file, then cut/join good files.
are you still getting a bad file with sync. problems?

yup still same problems, and when i play the files which i havent yet cause i havent been home yet but i did rip eacch vob individually but the only problem is every 5 seconds it gets more and more outta sinc its very gradual but if my .vob files came out out of sync when i have already ripped them what could this mean

i`ve been ripping dvd`s for a while now and have come to find that errors with .vobs can be put down to :-
1- the capabilities of your reader
2- the quality of your dvd (marks, scrarches etc.)
3- the quality of your dvd(the way it`s been authored, encoded or even the reflective layer used)
4- the capabilities of your ripping program.
5- your system(defraged, capacity, speed etc.)
plus a few more that other people may have come across.
95% of my rips have been successful and those that were not fall within the range of the above.
imho
if you ca`nt repair it in a couple of hours draw a line though it and move on to your next rip.(visit the b/s/t forum if you really want it).
having said that it`s a hobby so put as much time into it a you like. :hdspin: :round:

i think you would have more success trying another dvd player to rip from rather than another dvd----have you got a mate that could help you out?.
