Okay, I own a Dell Inspiron 2500 and my system has been destroyed by viruses. I posted a message bout 4-5 months ago and no one helped. I'm posting another one now because my problems have onlu gotten worse. Basically, i cant run any programs, i can't get on the internet, and i cant get into system files. It was infected with the Win32 virus and the Nimda as well as the Backdoor.crat through the server at my school. Someone was screwing around on the cpu's and placed the viruses so that they would be spread through the e-mail we have at school. Well, what i would like to know is, how can i restore my computer so that its exactly the way it was when i first bought it. when i try to re-install windows ME it says that "Cannot find C:\WINDOWS\Sy. Windows need this file to run D:\setup.exe." I guess it saying that this file is missing along with many other important sysytem files. I can't use my restore cd for some reason. It says that it cannot find 'D;\autorcd.exe' AT this point i dont know what to do. I ran i system scan using Defense Scanner and it said something like i had 106 viruses on my computer or around there. I tried to get rid of them but that was nearly impossible. I just need some detailed steps and instructions on how to completely restore my computer. Occasionally it says stuff like 'System halted' when i start my computer but that might be another problem. I dont know. Thats why i come to this forum. To seek help from you more knowledgable computer people. Please help me guys, i would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance
