I have a Compaq Presario 5900T, Pentium 3, 733MHz, 133MHz bus, 128Mb RAM (3 slot upgradable to 384Mb max i believe), 40 Gb hard drive, VooDoo 3 video card

I am thinking of upgrading my processor. I have heard someone that my mother can handle an upgrade of a processor up to a certain clock speed (MHz). Does anyone know how I can find out how I can find out what the biggest processor I can upgrade to with my current motherboard. If I need to upgrade my motherboard, how do I know what motherboard to use? I have gone to websites and they want the manufacturer and model and what not and thats where i get lost. What motherboards are compatible with my system? Thanks for any help you can give me.

You need to check your manufacturer website for info on your PC as its an OEM (Origianl Equipement Manufacturer), or you may need to contact them either email or phone for full spec, as it may not be listed.

However if you need to get another Mobo and processor, check whether you case will take the size and the connections as it might be different.
