Unreal 2 is going to be a dvd-rom. Is that a first for the PC format?

No, there have been several games released on DVD. However I think all of them may have also had multi disc CD versions.

So if Unreal 2 is DVD only, then it maybe a first.

I believe this is a looooooooong overdue step forward (about as overdue as getting PC cdroms out of cardboard suitcases and into dvd cases),BUT, for the price they are going to be asking I think this game should be released in a cardboard suitcase size box bundled with a free PC dvd player. I wonder what percentage of PC gamers have dvd, I reckon if it said it will be released on dvd it meant will "also", this will be interesting to see, wonder how many people will buy a dvd player to play it.

It will also be released on Cd also.
The makers know that only a small % of people have DvD roms on there computers hence they won't make much on the game.
