This is basically a simple question. when I press ctrl+alt+delete I see "WINAMPA" running along with SYSTRAY and EXPLORER.

I know systray and explorer are normal, but winampa I know comes from my new install of the new version of winamp. But on nowhere in the preferences for winamp do I see how you quit this from running upon startup.

Also, this is not in my "STARTUP" folder... help me out if you can

Run REGEDIT.

Then branch down to the following registry key and look for the entry that runs WINAMPA and delete it.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

If it's not in there look in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\RunServices

or for those who don`t trust themselves in the registry, try this: Goto RUN, type MSCONFIG and under the startup tab you get the option to disable those things that load at startup .

HTH someone,

Dylan, Windows 95 doesn't have MSCONFIG.

Bit late now I know, but when you install Winamp, you get a checklist of options half way through, create desktop icon, etc etc. One of these is run Winamp at startup which you need to uncheck.
