I got my ADSL all sorted now part from loggin on to my account and the line is all sorted. What happens is i create a new dial up for my account in my computer and set the telephone number as 0. I enter all my details and it says dialing......and thats it. Then it says the computer im dialing is not responding. I phoned up tec support (im with freeserve) and they set up an account that skiped the dialing part and said verifying account but then i got the same message and never got connected.
My modem is a westell wirespeed fdx305 and I got it from this board not freeserve. In omdem is installed ok and am using win 98.

I would of though that creating a dialup account wouldnt work as no dial up is needed. please help tec suppost (as always) are crap and dont know anything
thanks

You'll need to download a program to connect to DSL. Usually, your ISP should be providing you with the software to connect.

Any program that does the job will work. I recommend using raspppoe.

Dial up networking works quite well for my adsl... That's in Win2k (& XP) though.

I take it the modem can communicate with the exchange (it has a sync light of some kind?).

I get this every so often with my modem. It gets no response when verifying the account (returns error code 718, is this what you get?).
I find it tends to go away after a while.
I've complained about it but all my isp (BTopenworld) do is get BT to test the line. It takes about 3 days before they will do this & it's started working by then. They then have a quick look at the problem, see I'm connected & close the problem record.

Anyway, I hope you have better luck & if you manage to find a permanent solution pls let me know.
