I currently own a Sony Vaio Laptop. This is a PCG-FXA40 series with a model number of PCG-9B5L. When I first bought it, it came with Windows XP Home Edition. Well, I completely formatted it and did a clean install of Windows 2000. Now, I want to revert back to Windows XP Home Edition by doing a Full System Recovery. When I insert the Recovery CD disc.1, an error pops up stating that the software cannot run on this computer. What is wrong? I really need to do a factory install, but the recovery cd won't even start up. How can I fix this?

Yes, since you reformatted the hard drive and installed Win2k, the recovery disks will no longer work since they are not a full installation of XP. :(

Can I install a new clean version of Windows XP Home Edition, then initiate the recovery cds from there? Also, I have been exploring the cd for quite a bit and I was wondering if there is any way to extract the .PAC image files.
