Has anyone come across this before?

When I set up my internet accounts (manually), it never saves the password correctly. I type in my password, and when it goes to connect, the password (asterisks) showing, are nearly twice as long as the correct one.

This happens in Windows 98se, Windows 2000 & Windows XP.

Try as I might, I can't change it back again.
It only seems to happen AFTER I have created a second account. But once that is done, I can delete them all and go back to one, but it has the same problem........

any ideas?????

Regards,
Andy.

I get the same thing in Win XP/2000. It does not cause me any connection problems though, the password is right. I think it is just an extra little security measure in shielding the password. People will be guessing for say, a 10 letter password when it's really only 6.

Can you connect to the internet or is it actually giving you a wrong password message?

I have the same thing as Osiris_rising. For some rason it didnt occur when I used WinXP Pro but it does on WinXP Home. Anyway, it still connects so I'm not complaining.

Thanks for your replies,
So this is supposed to happen in XP & Windows 2000 then?

It's a total bummer, because the password is definately wrong. I have to type it in manually to get it right!

Cheers,
Andy.
