But sometimes mine works if i shake it slowly. Im taking my xbox back to the installer tomorrow so i will tell you if it can be fixed Meerdorf Jun 17, 2002, 11:05 AM NOPE! Wont work with shaking! I cant open it up, i dont have the special screwdriver!!! HELP lancebarker2 Jun 17, 2002, 11:10 AM i dont have the screwdriver i used an allan key backup2k1 Jun 17, 2002, 11:57 AM hi there guys there is a small board on the xbox front inside make sure this is pushed down or it might not work at all all so worth checking where the modchip is tooo i have install mine under the dvd drive and it works fine might be worth asking did they tape the chip up so it does not come in contact with the board the last option is for some reason is to make sure that the link is not connected on the modchip for some reason i solder the link and it did what u say after unsoldering it works fine now no problems at all backup2k1(the name u can trust) Meerdorf Jun 17, 2002, 12:46 PM Is the link the wire that solders from the chip back to the chip itself? If it is I will try that! Do you still leave the wire on one of the ends of the modchip? Cheers pal lancebarker2 Jun 17, 2002, 02:08 PM Mine worked fine for a day 100% booting then i put it in a ruck sack took it to my mates. Then it didnt work and i get the red flashing light so mine has to be a loose wire from when i carried it. What chip have you got Meerdorf ? Mines an extender backup2k1 Jun 17, 2002, 08:47 PM hi there sounds like the modchip itself under the board is not solder and is touching the board shorting out i would try and open the xbox up and check the front board that plugs in if this has come loose you would get this problem backup2k1 Meerdorf Jun 18, 2002, 09:09 AM I opened it, checked it and everything! I have got the box swapped with a brand new one :) Im happy now terry.diamond Jun 18, 2002, 12:13 PM i had same prob flashing lights etc it turned out to be loose power connector to dvd drive pushed it fully home worked 100% ever since DreamDiscs Jun 20, 2002, 12:57 AM I just finished installing the mod-chip and the same bullsh#t happened to me!!!! It is really annoying when you spend 5 hrs carefully installing a mod-chip and then it screws up on you. I used a 15w Soldering Iron, and I dont know what everyone was talking about, the tip seemed WAY TO BIG, the points on the MB were the size of a period. I went ahead and removed the stupid thing, guess I will have to get it sent to a professional. I RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE TRYS TO INSTALL THE MOD ON THEIR OWN, SAVE YOU THE IRRITATION THAT I WENT THROUGH! Anyways, hope they come out with a better mod-chip there are way to many points that are right next to each other, I am suprised they couldnt design anything better........ ...........peace........ sagito Jun 20, 2002, 08:51 AM Design what better?.. The MB so its easier to solder to!? LOL lhys09915 Jun 21, 2002, 07:30 AM i think thats arrigent considering you new how many wires there was and still bought the chip.wonder what your appinion would have been had your xbox worked? Meerdorf Jun 21, 2002, 03:13 PM Sorry mate, you lost me on that one? I don't know what you mean? |
