ive recentley started downloading from newsgroups using newsbinpro , i have no problem at all if the files i get have a .rar extension- but now all the files are encoded using 'Yenc' - and wen i download them they just come down as wat look like bin files ( unassociated ) like 001,002,003 etc - i have spoke to someone else who is downloading the files and the same files come thu as .rar on his- but wen i get them i cant do anything with them? i have the latest winrar and newsbin - but its just the yenc files im having trouble with - anyone shed any light on this -wat am i missing? is it the server (blueyonder) does it support yenc? im running windows me is it that ? help please - its drivin me nuts:-(

open the first one in the list (probably 001) with winrar. i'm betting you don't have the newest version of winrar. or it may be that the version of newsbinpro you have isn't new enough to support yenc. if that doesn't work you may want to get a yenc decoder from here, www.yenc.org and try it out.

Yeah, for the *.001 etc you need winrar 3

thanks for your replies - the version of winrar i have is 3.00 and the version of newsbin pro is 4.0 build 3703 - which are the latest ones i can find - can anyone think of anything else that it might be -cheers

Don't think it's anything to do with yEnc. The progs you have are compatible with it.
You need to associate the file extension .001 with WinRAR, then double click to open and decompress the archive series (files .001, .002, etc) in WinRAR.
Or you could load WinRAR and select the .001 file manually.
