I just got my Roadrunner connection installed about 5-6 days ago. They had to install what I think was an ethernet card. I also have a surfboard type cable modem (Toshiba). Lately, my browsers (both Netscape and IE) have been giving me hell. It happens like once every two days. What'll happen is like on IE, when I click a LINK, it locks up at the thing that gives u option of Close, or details. And on Netscape, if I try to even type a location, it locks up. So then I restart my computer; after restart-during booting at the windows 95 screen, it stays there and doesnt do anything. What I have to do is manually turn it off, run back through scandisk, and let is boot all the way back through. Then things seem to work... Any idea what it could be? I have about 800-900 mb free of disk space so its a bunch.

I would try using different drivers with your ethernet card. It seems they are conflicting with something.

Well see the thing is, some technicians came in and installed all that stuff for free. I know where the card is located but I dont think they left any disks or anything like that....

And now another problem is I can boot up and have the cable modem plugged up and raedy, yet when I go to a browser, I get DNS entry errors (acting as if Im not on a network). So then I turn off the computer and turn it back on, boot up, and then everything seems to work. Keep in mind I cant restart because when it comes back to the WIndows 95 screen, it stays there.

you can call your internet provider and they will give you a driver, or sometimes they hire 3rd party installers, and you can contact them for a driver disk.

Well does this sound like a virus? I installed some virus scan program and it didnt find any virus, suspcious files or aynthing but did find 2 I/O errors whatever that is. I know that stands for input/output, but what does that have to do with scanning for virii? Please help me out here. If you know where I could download a good virus scan proggy, let me know. File size isnt really a problem unless I have to get it from WINMX. (DL's from winxm max at around 30 kbps while dl's from Internet explorer (simplem3s.net etc..) average around 170 kbps while the fastest has been at over 500.
