I`ve got a generic dvd-rom which reads at a max of 8x (approx 3-4 mb/s) but I can`t get Prassi Primo to copy direct disc-to-disc as it reads the reader drive(dvd-rom) then spits out the dvd-r in the recorder(pioneer a04) & says the jobs complete when it hasn`t even started?!?!?

Is my dvd-rom just not fast enough & do I need a 16x?

My Pioneer only writes at 1x `cos of the dvd-r media so surely my dvd-rom is fast enough?

I can get round it by using a temp file on my h/d but it takes longer as it has to read the file onto the h/d then burn it back onto dvd-r.

Any other programs which will allow me to do this or is it a hardware prob?

You could try using Nero. I use Nero to do on-the-fly copies of my newly created dvd-r's. Try that and if that doesnt help then I'd go for a faster DVD reader. You can pick up a 16x liteon for about £30 now and I use this to do dvd-r's at 2x on-the-fly.

Hope This helps.

PS. Check DMA mode is enabled on the dvd-rom reader.
