hi, anyone have a hack for pioneer dv444-s. I have looked on vcdhelp but no joy. On the box it states pal/ntsc but no joy or have i bought a dodgey one

Hi mate if you look in the instrcution manual of the player it will tell you as its not a hack its official from pioneer let me know if you can't find it and I will look in my manual for you.

Does the DV444 play DVD-R ???

PAL/NTSC playback means just that it has nothing to do with region coding and in most cases NTSC will output NTSC or at the most PAL 60 which is supported by modern TVs but NTSC playback does not mean R1 playback. And yes it plays DVDRs.

This machine is brill cdrs/svcd/dvdr etc 10/10 shame it not ntsc.

You can switch the output between NTSC or PAL, the info on how to do this is in the manual (or it certainly was in mine) it involves something like holding the play button while turning the machine on (but im not totally sure)
