Leatherface Jun 20, 2002, 02:15 PM what should I get but I don't really mind paying the extra couple of quid if the plextor 40x12x40 is better. wod_uk Jun 20, 2002, 02:37 PM get a liteon 40x its well good i have one and i have backed up all of my disks and it is only £55. its a very good burner for the money nectarinefire645 Jun 20, 2002, 08:19 PM lite-on just as good and if not better in some cases than plextor look up the pro`s and con`s lite-in better for games with SD2 plextor better for mp3`s both are good writers just depends what you want it for HTH freakshow Jun 20, 2002, 09:12 PM 1 vote for lite-on here.Less expesive and better imo. 3rdandgoal Jun 20, 2002, 10:02 PM lite-on ElaineM Jun 21, 2002, 12:38 AM For the money, you can't go wrong with a Lite-on. It's an excellent burner for the money. However I do have this thing for Plextors and tend to seek out a deal on one. That is only my opinion of course and haven't minded spending the extra money on one. Captain Blood Jun 21, 2002, 09:55 AM Will a Lite-on burn CDG's danman Jun 21, 2002, 10:35 AM Interesting to see how the times have changed. About a year ago I was on here saying that the Liteon's were superb (still using them now). At the time it was like an act of high treason to speak out against Plextor. The amount of snob's that flamed me was incredibe. Glad to see I was an inovator not an imitator. Tafsir Jun 21, 2002, 11:18 AM Liteon's cd burners rock happy with mine king nero Jun 22, 2002, 11:27 AM i'm for good ol' plex, tho it seems lite-ons are better on SD games. i was wondering the exact same Q? . How about durability of lite-ons? Plex lasts years, i know from experience, but how about lite-on? danman Jun 22, 2002, 11:51 AM I've had 4 Liteon 24x in a copy tower going round the clock from when I get up to when I go to bed. Theese have been going strong since they first hit the market, paid about £90 each for them. I'm now going to exchange them for faster models, there's nothing wrong with them now, but I do think they have paid for themselves a few times over. New faster models are about £50-£60 for 40x. £70-£80 for 48x absolute bargains By the way I had to have a Plex 16x (admittedly on site courier pick up and drop off), exchanged after about 2 months. Nothing in life is certain, you pays your money (you makes a few quid) and you takes a chance. jay3stix Jun 22, 2002, 12:03 PM liteon 32x is da king, had my one 4 about 3 weeks, AND IT'S GRRRRREEEEEEEAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lhaney Jun 22, 2002, 05:35 PM Lite on SoLaRiS Jun 22, 2002, 06:28 PM has to be the same as most "liteon" i have two different ones and have never had any trouble with either wether it be pc, psx, dc, mp3, audio, whatever.....but then again i also have plex's and they have been an absolute dream.......................so for price alone i would go for the liteon (£55 you can't go wrong) mozzie Jun 23, 2002, 07:29 AM Liteon Number one ! Never had a problem yet ! It makes the other CDRW makers drop their prices! Good on ya Liteon if it wasnt for you we would still be paying high prices. lance790 Jun 23, 2002, 07:37 PM lite-on writers is the best thing you can get for the money. rabby2 Jun 24, 2002, 03:25 PM i have both plex and liteon burners liteon - best price - better if you want to clone sd2.51(can clone every popular protection) plextor - far better drive - 2yr onsite warranty - not quite as good at sd2.51(can clone every other popular protection) ruger-dfw Jun 25, 2002, 10:55 PM Ive got the Lite-On, works gret here. New Egg for $90 games4u Jun 26, 2002, 04:54 PM I have always been a Plextor Bhoy. Had a 16x, 24x and now the 40x. BUT, recently i have had to send back the 24x 3 times now to get replaced. I have also sent the 40x back recently after only 2 months of gettin it. The drawer that comes out were u put ur CDr gets fuked very quickly. It starts to get louder and louder as time goes by. It still burns OK but eventually it made such a noise that it used to wake me G-friend up ar 3am while doing the late burning shift :) Plextor are great for there warranty though and haver never asked me once why i go thru so many burners lol They replace them No Probs. SO, after reading this post i am going to change to the Liteon Writer and see if i come across the same prob. I suppose i am saying here Plextor have a few probs. I just wonder if anyone else has came across this same problem? I think by the posts above u will be buying a Liteon m8 Good Luk!! chickenfeed Jul 08, 2002, 08:38 AM liteon are the best value for money NotAHacker Jul 08, 2002, 10:25 AM Liteon!!!! I have a 24x and the best part is I can us any speed disc and burn it at 24x and no coasters.:D :round::hdspin::round: Fusion Backups Jul 28, 2002, 07:58 PM Get a liteon 40x its well good i have one and then you can overclock it to a 48x i have no problem. MrMP Jul 28, 2002, 10:17 PM I've been burning from the early days and always used plextor and always recomended them. A couple of weeks ago i couldnt resist the temptation and bought a lite on 40x12x48, more out of curiosity - they couldnt be that good could they? Well i am amazed to say they are even better , no more plextors for me. Arthur.P.Ness Jul 31, 2002, 04:34 AM I think Lite on are the best selling brand of writers in the world, and have been for some time. With all the happy people using em, it's no wonder why. I got a 24x and never a coaster yet. Only prob is in Xp it don't burn very fast at all. Gonna see if there is a fix on Xp somewhere. With plextor, you might get better build quality, but the liteon is just as compatible and you are not paying for the name. Looks like Liteon is the new 'nvidia' of the cdr world. oxocubeman Jul 31, 2002, 05:17 AM I dont think the liteon will do cd+g, at least the goldenhawk site doesnt list it as being compatible, the cheapest that does burn are the Philips and the Sony, philips bare drive available for £30. If your cdr can read the cd+g discs then you can burn with a liteon after visiting a good help site, nudge, nudge. Isn't it a bit sad that I dare not give the address of a reputable site that can help this guy out in case I get banned? Maybe I am getting paranoid. zymo Aug 02, 2002, 06:04 AM I've had a liteon 40x for just over a week and wow what a burner. Its incredibly fast. I use Bulkpaq 40x cdr's £18 for 100 which it seems to love and at times the write speed goes over 40. Great writer. chriscozens Aug 02, 2002, 03:02 PM im getting my 40x soon and i can say that if any one will want to cd+gs that it will do it cos my 32x does it, i use cdwin 4.0a and it works fine and reads it. im a DJ/KJ and all works fine for me :D for all my music, i dont burn CD+g's cos it would take for eva and a year to do cos you have to burn on a low spead or the grafics will look mashed, but i keep all of it on my pc and set that up to my lovely 2.5k watt system as let that do the work why they sing. sorry carried on to much LOL theargyspy Aug 04, 2002, 07:10 AM Im getting a liteon in a couple of weeks,my plextor 24/10/40a seems to be getting more and more fussy about what media it uses,a m8 has a liteon, can put any old silvers in,seems to burn anything! theargyspy32@hotmail.com goatnutz Aug 04, 2002, 07:16 AM yeah I now have a liteon 32x and 40x (the 32x cost me 1.5 times what the 40x did, 3 months earlier, lol) and I love em. I had a plex 12x for just over 18 months, and had to have it replaced/repaired 3 times during that period (although Plex's collect and return policy is faultless). If the liteons break, may be easier to just chuck em out at that price, lol. |
