View Full Version : Installing OS9 on top of OS10

I need to do this, ive been told that it should work but it doesnt.
Ive obviously clean installed OSX, then rebooted with OS9 in the drive, and gone to install, but it says it cannot be installed over this version of Mac OS
Im confused, i dont know THAT much bout macs, so any help appreciated

Boot with your os 9 disk(hold down c while you start)
and choose the drive utilty program to format your drive then install os9 it should work fine then

cheers m8, but i need to keep os X too, so formatting isnt really an option.
I need to install on top for the classic mode to work in OS X

OH sorry

I am still an OS 9.1 guy I will ask a friend of mine (if I can catch him) and he might have the answer

For the best answers to this question, you may want to consider Apple.com's help forum rather than the CD-ROM Guide. I'm sure you'll get some good answers in here, but I doubt you'll get the amount of info you will at Apple's site. I had a problem with my G4 in the past, and I received no responses because of the problem being quite rare. After three days, an employee of Apple responded with the info I needed. Hats off to Apple!!

i went onto the apple site but never actually went to the forums
