I just installed an AMD Athlon 1800+ XP on my motherboard (MSI MS-6330 Lite3). My old processor was Athlon running at 1050 mhz. When I installed the new one it says 1150 mhz. It should be running at 1500 mhz. Can any one help me with this problem?

Did you adjust the neccessary jumpers or Bios settings for the motherboard so that it will run at the higher speed? BTW, according to the manual, the fastest CPU that motherboard will support is " 600Mhz up to 1.2Ghz or above". Meaning they designed the motherboard before >1.2Ghz processors existed, so to go above that you may need a BIOS update.

This link says it can support the AMD Athlon 1800+

My bios version is 2.9

Then you probable got a jumper or bios setting set incorrectly. It certainly won't hurt to double-check them...

I checked the bios but there is no setting that lets me change the mhz. There are a couple of jumpers but i'm not sure which one to change.

Make sure the front side bus is set to 133 in the BIOS.

I did one few months ago, the setting jumper is on the motherboard, if I remember correctly, its the one just behind the AGP slot, this board has a BIOS setting for 133, but it wont work with the XP at full speed unless this jumper are set to run at 133FSB.

For the correct jumper, you better download the PDF manual from MSI.

Eh, I didn't even consider jumpers. I guess I'm used to the jumperless boards now.
