I have found two different DVD players and wonder if anyone can help me to choose. The price doesn't matter, it's the quality of picture and sound that I want to be good.

1. http://www.nowonspecial.com/itempage.asp?item=DV444&cat=Home+Video#

or

2. http://www.prodcat.panasonic.com/shop/NewDesign/ModelTemplate.asp?ModelId=15285&show_all=false&product_exists=True&active=1&ModelNo=DVD-XP30&CategoryId=2560

Thanks.

Both offer the plus features that we should have: Dolby Digital/DTS/Progressive Scanning/MP3 Playback/CDR & CDRW Playback.

However, I would get the Panasonic DVD-XP30 for its ability to play DVD-Audo, DVD-RAM & DVD-R even though the Pioneer's audio S/N is a little better but I don't think you'll tell the difference when compare with the Panasonic.

Thanks Van Nugent!

I thought Pioneer was a better brand though. But when it comes to DVD it may be different.

Hope for more input here....

More opinions, please!!!! I understand it's hard to have an opinion about a DVD player that hasn't even reach the market, but from the specs. what do you think? Need to be convinced completely!!! :gabby: Keep writing, buddies!

The best choice is very obvious, Stoichkov m8! First off, the 2 companies are reputable ones that make very high quality audio/video gears but Panasonic DVD players are highly praised by video reviewers for their high quality pictures for years, even players that have no Progessive Scan feature. Secondly, for about $50 more (street price), you'll get DVD Audio/DVD-RAM & DVD-R playback on the Panasonic. DVD Audio and SACD give you superior multichannel audio sound as compared with conventional CD. We can't say DVD Audio & SACD will replace the CD in a near future but this is the technology trend and evolution for furture digital audio/video. Once you listen to music or sound tracks from DVD Audio or SACD, you don't want to go back to CD. :)

With a little search, you can find the Panasonic in question for about $280 US (street price) or even below.
