my friend has a pc with a internal modem - when trying to recognise what make it is through plug and play windows does not have a clue.
we dont know what modem it is and want to get the drivers for it
is there a program that can identify what modem it is so i can get the appropriate drivers to use it?
thanks

Windows can't give you that info.
Have you tried opening the box to take a look? The make/model may be printed on the modem card.
I am not sure if this free version of Sandra (http://www.3bsoftware.com/downloads/sandra.html) will tell. The Pro version is much better.

It'd be cheaper to buy a new modem. :)
If you want to buy Sandra to explore & benchmark your system, click on the Buy Now button on the link I gave you above.
IMO, you need to download and try the free version first to see how you like it.

One option is to open up the case and look at the numbers and manufacturer on the chipset on the modem. Then go to a site like http://www.modem-help.co.uk/help/index.html and find out what manufacturers that have made modems based on those chipsets, and install drivers for one of them, or the generic drivers from the chipset manufacturer.
