Hi, i have bought a 60GB IBM Hard Drive for my computer (only have 4) and my computer will not recognise it...

When i have jumpers set to Slave on 60 GB and bootup disk inserted it will only recognise Master drive (4GB) so if i do FDISK in will only do my original,

If i try and remove my 4gb master drive and set up my new 60Gb hard drive as master the PC will not go past first screen even with Bootup Disk in...if anyone knows any solution to this i would be really grateful..........

First off, make sure you set the IDE channel where you have the IBM installed to Auto Detect in the BIOS Setup screen so that it will autodetect the drive. Secondly, make sure the IBM jumper is in the correct Master or Slave position according to whether you have it as a Master or Slave drive.

Download the Disk Manager 2000 from this page (http://www.storage.ibm.com/hdd/support/download.htm) and run it.

its possible your pc has an older bios which will not recognize the 60 gig drive. you may need a bios upgrade

Another, thing to check is that your BIOS is set to boot a floppy first (A:\), then the C:\ drive. it should boot the Win floppy regardless of what your drive is doin
